Moroccan Fitness Adventure, Day 5
As I near the end of my time in Morocco, I wanted to talk about embracing health on your holiday.
I hear over and over and over again how people don’t want to really workout on holiday, and I always wonder why. Yes, I am in the health profession and see the value of daily exercise–but this isn’t about me. I look at a holiday as a chance to enhance life, to embrace change and come home reformed. There are so many people that leave the office, get on a plane, arrive at said destination to drink their faces off, and return home tired and anxious, a bright red colour from the sun.
I am challenging you to take a holiday that really changes your perspective on your life and your body.
From a fitness professional’s perspective, it is more difficult to train a client who is only fitting in fitness into their already hectic day. Being able to really get ahold of people and their time–to have all of their available brain power–and to have a client eat right and spend time relaxing between workouts, that’s a real dream come true. I promise you that will not only see change in your endurance, strength, and flexibility, but you will see a how your mind and soul are happier and full of life.
Think about the Biggest Loser television show. People come from all over the United States to lose weight. The process is the same: we prepare all your meals, plan the training, allow you to really rest, and spend time on new exercise programs. This is a vital kick-start to really changing your life.
What I am talking about is the ability to regain control of your body mind and heart. Take this time to invest in yourself and find a new long-term direction for your health and wellness.
Now comes the tricky part: finding the right person, place, company and direction. When interviewing companies about your fit-vacation, really ask serious questions about how long they have been in training, how long the company has been present, and how they plan on changing your life.
Fitness professionals are people who are going to be with you the entire journey, not the ‘young new trainer’ in the gym that can show you a perfect bicep curl. I am talking about the life coach that has made the conscious decision to change people’s lives forever. Our profession is difficult, from a monetary perspective and a competitive one. When choosing your fit vacation package, ensure that you are investing in a company that has decided to make health and wellness their life’s passion.
Now is the time.
How are you going to embrace your holiday?
