Winter Break Adventures
Magical Skiing – Fab for Families
Vacation at Are – Sweden’s number one ski resort, great for families with wide, crowd-free slopes, just 220 miles/354 kilometres south of the Arctic Circle. Breath-taking scenery, low sweeping mountains covered with pine forests. A great resort for all levels of skier including ice-skating, sleigh rides, dog-sledding, tobogganing and snow-shoeing; and off-piste skiing for the more adventurous. Plus there is a good range of activities for the non-skier including miles of cross-country tracks, Tamforsen waterfalls and Millest Moose Farm. Enjoy a laid-back holiday with the Swedes!
Stay at: Are Bjornen apartments offer an excellent location for families and beginners with just a short walk to the lifts and ski school meeting points.

Johnston Canyon Ice Walk
As an alternative to skiing how about some ice hiking in Banff National Park in the Canadian Rockies? This silent icy wonderland has pretty blue tinged icicles hanging from the rocks and waterfalls frozen in time – the upper falls in particular are breath-taking. Guides are available and will provide ice-cleats which are worn strapped over winter shoes to make walking easier. Look out for moose, coyotes, elk and wolves while hiking through wonderful scenery and finish off with a well-earned mug of hot chocolate.

Watch beautiful sunsets and snorkel with turtles, manta rays, parrot fish and octopus amongst the unspoilt coral reef. Visibility in the water reaches up to 30 m (98 feet).
